Vam Ho Bird Field

Vam Ho is an eco-tourism attraction in two communes: My Hoa and Tan Xuan in Ba Tri District, Ben Tre Province. It is a habitat of nearly 500,000 stock and night heron species and the number is fast increasing.
Vam Ho lies in the salt-water area and the wild plants and trees grow into forest, very ideal for birds. In all bird fields in the Cuu Long Delta, Vam Ho is richer in species. The bird-sanctuary is divided into 5 small areas with protective dykes around to prevent fire and to safeguard the birds. On two banks of Ba Lai River, it is rich in vegetation: fruit trees like mango, water coconuts. In the bird field, plants like salt water spinach, date palm... can be found but the birds only build nests on thorny plants after bathing in the river. There are more than 2,000 visitors to Vam Ho annually and almost in birds' productive season. Visitors will ride on small boats along mangrove ­ forests or cross the "monkey-bridges" or relax on the hammocks breathing in fresh air from Ba Lai River. The songs of birds, the whispering of plants, the scent of flowers and the flocks of flying birds make the scene more attractive. Typically is at sunset. Visitors climb high in the tree to view all kinds of birds on home journey. Stocks seem to whiten the plants while night herons start flying for food. Wild beasts and animals: bats, foxes, pythons, snakes... can be seen here. Visitors will feel as if they were living in a world of sounds and sights and colours. Vam Ho Bird Field is a donation by nature to Ben Tre. A tour to Vam Ho will make a good impression on tourists.
