Da Lat Travel Guide:
Dalat, the city of Eternal Spring, is the main city of Lam Dong province in the Central highlands of Vietnam, some 300 km north of Ho Chi Minh city. Lakes, waterfalls, forests and gardens surround the town and most tourists spend their time exploring the beautiful countryside by foot, motorbike or bicycle. The cool climate and the scenic environment make Dalat a good option for escaping the heat of South Vietnam.Dalat is the country’s most popular honeymoon spot, and at any time of the year, but particularly in the spring, visitors will see newlyweds at Dalat's various attractions. Dalat is also home to several ethnic hill tribes, who originally gave Dalat its name.
What to Do ? Activities in Dalat include a stroll around the Xuan Huong lake (or better yet, a trip around the lakes by paddle boats) and visits to some of the nearby waterfalls. Other attractions include the Dalat flower garden, the “Crazy House”, Bao Dai’s Summer Palace, a trip on the Cremaillere Railway Station, and the "Valley of Love" park.Dalat is also becoming one of the homes for Vietnam’s outdoor adventure activities, including trekking to the nearby minority villages, cycling, canyoning, rock climbing and rappelling. In addition, with cool weather and the 18-hole Dalat Palace Golf Club, Dalat is a popular destination for golf.
When to Go ? Dalat is in the temperate region and has pleasant weather year-round, even sunny during much of the rainy season. The dry season lasting from November to March, and the rainy season from April to November. During the winter months, the average temperature is 10 C while during summer it is around 20 C. Ideal weather is from November to March, when the air is fresh and cool.
How To Get There ? Flights: Vietnam Airlines has daily short flights between Dalat with HCMC, and there is also one flight per day between Dalat and Hanoi. The airport is around 30 km south of the city. Car & Bus: It is also possible to reach Dalat by bus or car. From Dalat, it takes approximately 4-5 hours to Nha Trang (205km) and slightly longer to HCMC (308km). Public buses, as well as the popular tourist buses, run both of these routes with stops.

Ba Ria –Vung Tau strives to receive 6.7 million tourists :
06 March 2008By the end of 2007, the total investment capital to the tourism sector in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province was VND94,230 billion, creating a firm foundation for the sector to develop strongly in 2008.
The number of tourist arrivals to southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province is increasing, showing a fine development trend in its tourism sector.In the past 10 years, tourism infrastructure has made significant progress. A number of new roads, transport, hotels and entertainment places have been built. Tourism services have also expanded. Tourists to Ba Ria-Vung Tau have a chance to join adventurous tours such as rowing and climbing mountains or tours of Dat Do, Long Dat, and Xuyen Moc communes. Opening new tours and improving the quality of services are main targets set by businesses.In 2007, six projects capitalised at nearly VND1,400 billion were implemented in the province. Ba Ria-Vung Tau was also active in selecting investors to develop ecological and cultural tourism. A sharp increase in tourism projects helped the tourism sector develop strongly and impressively. The tourism sector got a facelift thanks to new promotion and coordination activities. Strong investment by the State to infrastructure and businesses’ effort and dynamism has brought the best quality of services to tourists.The province now has 140 tourism businesses, nearly 130 hotels and resorts with around 5,000 rooms. Coming to the province, every tourist can find suitable accommodation and the best quality of services.Huynh Trang, a tourist guide who has 20 years of experience, said that Ba Ria-Vung has changed a lot, especially in tourism services and environmental protection. His customers acknowledged that the province is clean, beautiful and peaceful- the ideal place to relax.In 2008, the province considers tourism as a strength to develop its economy. The province will create most favourable conditions for business to invest in tourism projects. Furthermore, it will continue investing in infrastructure. The tourism sector will encourage businesses to change trading methods and to further improve the quality of services. Ba Ria-Vung Tau aims to receive 6.7 million visitors this year and earn VND1,230 billion, up 14 percent compared to 2007. To attract more investment and improve the quality of services, the tourism sector is accelerating promotional activities and human resources training.

Pacific Airlines offers free tickets to children under two years old :
11 March 2008From March 31, children under two years old will be entitled to travel with adults on Pacific Airlines free of charge, according to the company’s representative.
The policy will be applied to clients who book a ticket since March 10 for flights on March 31 or later. Pacific Airline currently charges VND150,000 for each passenger under the age of two on the route Ho Chi Minh City - Ha Noi.Even customers who have already paid extra to allow a child under the two years old to fly can reschedule their flights and get a refund. Only 17 infants will be allowed to board on each flight.Children under the age of two do not require seats of their own since they sit on their parents’ laps and are therefore exempted from paying a fare, said Mr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, Deputy General Director of Pacific Airlines.Vietnam Airlines is currently charging 10 percent of an adult fare for children under the age of two and 75 percent for children from two to 12 years old.
